Sheryl A. Orwel is currently an Associate at Clifton Budd &
DeMaria, LLP. She focuses her practice on the representation
of both private and public sector employers in employment litigation
in state court and labor arbitration proceedings as well as
before government administrative agencies. In addition, Ms.
Orwel also handles counseling on day-to-day labor and employment
issues and other matters.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Orwel served as
an Assistant General Counsel at the New York City Mayor's Office
of Labor Relations where she represented the City in every phase
of administrative proceedings including arbitrations and improper
practice matters before the New York City Office of Collective
Bargaining. She also provided legal counsel and assisted negotiators
in collective bargaining negotiations. Ms. Orwel completed her
Juris Doctor at the New York Law School, and also holds a Bachelor
of Arts degree from the City College of New York and a Masters
degree from Columbia University Teachers College.
Notably, Ms. Orwel was granted a defense verdict
in Bolin v. Harvard Protection Services and a Summary Judgment
in a race and national origin case DaCosta v. North Shore Hospital.
Ms. Orwel is a member of the New York County Lawyers' Association
and the Metropolitan Black Bar Association. She is admitted
to practice by the State of New York.
