George F. Brenlla concentrates his practice on labor and employment litigation with a formidable track record of litigation success in defending management clients in various trial and appellate federal and state courts and proceedings, as well as proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board and other government administrative agencies. Many of these victories have been obtained at lower cost to clients through pre-trial dismissals or other advantageous resolutions.
Mr. Brenlla regularly advises local, national, and international clients in commercial disputes and in employment and labor matters including issues relating to race, color, religion, age, sex, disability and national origin discrimination, wage and hour claims, Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) issues, employee claims of breach of contract, defamation and other work-related tort claims.
In addition to his labor and employment practice, Mr. Brenlla has a growing commercial litigation practice. He is known for his trial advocacy and his track record in litigated cases. Among high profile litigated cases Mr. Brenlla has handled are Lepore v. Yukiguni Maitake Corp., in which the jury determined that the plaintiff was an outside salesperson not entitled to overtime compensation; Holland v. BLH Electronics, Inc., where his arguments resulted in a defense jury verdict of no race discrimination; and Thurman v. AHRC, where he obtained a directed verdict at a jury trial dismissing the race, gender and retaliation claims before the claims were submitted to the jury.
Mr. Brenlla is also a sought after speaker on employment issues, alternate dispute resolution and management options during union organizing.
Mr. Brenlla holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association, and has been admitted to the federal and state courts in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
